Hey, Scallywags, it’s Time to Be Awesome!

We rented My Little Pony: The Movie recently and, although I appreciate the use of the colon in the title, I can’t say I loved the movie. I can however say that the music in this movie was pretty great. Even though I’ve heard these songs about a million times now, I still like them. And one in particular spoke to me. Yes…a My Little Pony song spoke to me, I’m not ashamed. The song is called, Time to Be Awesome. Here’s a little background on the song: Somehow the ponies end up on a pirate ship (you know, I was born on a pirate ship*) and the pirates work…

Vegan Nacho Cheese, or as Eric Likes to Call it: Dorito Dip

What do you call a nosy pepper? Jalapeno business! That joke literally makes me laugh every time. Anyhoo, I’ve recently dipped back into veganism, after getting some serious vegan eats in Texas two weeks ago, and one of the hardest things about veganism is the lack of cheese. Or at least it used to be! I became vegetarian 24 years ago, and back then the only vegan cheese available, was awful. Cardboard awful. Cardboard mixed with paste awful. Things have definitely changed though, I was floored when I tried Chao Creamy Original last week, it legit tasted like sliced mozzarella. I’ll admit, my favorite nacho cheese, is Tostito’s Salsa Con…

    The Weekly Skinny: Episode 4

Happy Sunday and welcome to The Weekly Skinny: Episode 4! This week was an exciting one for me; I met my posting goal of three posts per week (one on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). In case you missed it, this week I wrote about: My Vegan Eats in Texas, Talking dirty with a rental car, and Staying up till five in the morning with Adam Driver Also Jenny Lawson followed me on Twitter! And yes, I’ve been checking every day to see if she still follows me, and as of today she does. She is one of my online icons, and she writes some really important things about depression and…

Twitter, Instagram, Three Hours of Sleep, and Adam Driver

According to my FitBit and the bags under my eyes, I only got three hours of sleep last night. And that is because I went to sleep at 4:51am, which is six hours after my bedtime. I blame it all on Adam Driver.  The Lead Brownie Why did I go to bed so late, you ask? Well, I intended to go to sleep at my usual time, maybe a little later. I had a midnight deadline for work that I had to rush to meet because I procrastinated, searching for vegan brownie recipes. Don’t fret y’all, I found one that was phenomenal. BUT it was too much of a good thing and…

Talk Dirty to Me…No Wait, Don’t!

One of my favorite things about traveling for work is being able to rent fancy cars that have way more features than my base model car has. And by fancy, I mean Kia’s and Hyundai’s, not real people fancy. Also fancy in the sense that I can ask it to talk dirty to me. On my most recent trip to Georgia, I got a car with an amazing feature that I’d never used before, and that I am also now an extremely big fan of: text to speech. I don’t text when I drive anymore, it’s super dangerous and everyone who texts while driving drives like an asshole. And if…

Vegan Eats in Texas (+Bonus Rant – I Swear, if You Say Protein One More Time…!)

All my exes live in Texas! Well, not really any of them…that I know of. Also, last week was my first time in Texas! My coworker joked that I wouldn’t be able to find anything vegetarian there, and he was waaaaaay off. Then I got reprimanded by a Facebook friend for saying that I surprisingly found vegan eats in Texas. I can’t win, y’all. Yeah, I say y’all now too. I travel often for work, close to once a month, and I try to do something different or exciting on each trip. I’ve been to the Indie 500 track, to the top of the Space Needle and Mt. Rainier in…

    The Weekly Skinny: Episode 3

The Weekly Skinny is a round up of some of my favorite posts from the week and a summary of the goings on here at Ani Kay. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!  Two weeks ago I changed my blog name, wrote about why I changed my blog name (spoiler, I am no longer considering myself a mommy blogger), and I revamped every post on this site! Phew! It was a labor of love, and I am so happy with where everything is headed! I also showed a peak into my January Ipsy Glambag and Birchbox, and basically gushed over my love of subscriptions. The struggle…

I Am Not a Mommy Blogger, and This is Why

Did you notice the blog name change? This site used to be called Momma Bear Life (I’m still cleaning that up, so you may still see the name floating around), but I didn’t feel like the name really represented what I am here to write about. I used to be a mommy blogger. Now with my blog name change I can officially say now that I no longer am, and this is why. I feel like we really started hearing about mommy bloggers back in 2010 and  2011. Maybe it was earlier than that, or maybe that was just when I started hearing about them. I started reading blogs when I was…

A Peak Into my January Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox!

Have you heard of Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox? They are beauty subscriptions that are only $10 a month, and I’m obsessed! I have fallen in love with subscription boxes. Like, head over heals, real deal love. I blame Ashley from Happy, Pretty, Sweet for getting the ball rolling when I joined her Fall Sweet Progress Swap Box. I love getting surprises in the mail, and this month was no different. Unfortunately I was super sick this last week and I had to sit on my Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox for a few days because I wanted to really enjoy the experience. I am also waiting on my Fit…

2018 New Year’s Resolutions – All About Healing and Growth

Happy 2018! I love the start of a new year, I always feel inspired and ready to take on the world. Have you written your 2018 New Year’s Resolutions? I know writing resolutions is cliche, and the joke is that no one ever sticks to them, but I find writing them wildly helpful and now that I am using a bullet journal, I really feel like I can stay on track. My list of resolutions isn’t long, but it is important. There are things that I want to accomplish this year, and I am going to hold myself accountable. Here are my 2018 New Year’s Resolutions: 2018 New Year’s Resolutions…
