A Peak Into my January Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox!

Have you heard of Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox? They are beauty subscriptions that are only $10 a month, and I’m obsessed!

I have fallen in love with subscription boxes. Like, head over heals, real deal love. I blame Ashley from Happy, Pretty, Sweet for getting the ball rolling when I joined her Fall Sweet Progress Swap Box.

I love getting surprises in the mail, and this month was no different. Unfortunately I was super sick this last week and I had to sit on my Ipsy Glam Bag and Birchbox for a few days because I wanted to really enjoy the experience. I am also waiting on my Fit Fab Fun Box, which is literally taunting me every time I walk by it.

So, what is Ipsy Glam Bag?

Ipsy Glam Bag is a $10 monthly subscription of sample beauty products. Honestly the low price is what keeps me coming back every month because I don’t always use all of the products they send. I am not super fancy, so some of the face products, primers, and liquid liners are a bit out of my league (I know liquid liner may not be considered super fancy to you, but it is to me. I’m getting ‘fancier’ but seriously y’all, baby steps). I do love at least one product per box, and the cost of the box definitely covers that product.

And, what about Birchbox?

Birchbox is a similar subscription box, though they tend to send more ‘product’ than makeup. I’ve specified that I’d rather get makeup recently, so we’ll see if this changes moving forward. The price of this box is also only $10, which makes the whole thing completely worth it. Like the Glam Bag, I always find at least one thing I love in my Birchbox.

I love the way these two are packaged. Birchbox comes in a stylish cardboard box (inside its shipping box) and Ipsy Glam Bag comes in a cute little makeup pouch. The pouches and boxes are different every month, and I don’t know why, but that little touch makes the experience that much more fun!

This is the whole gang together, Birchbox on the left and Ipsy Glam Bag on the right. I was honestly pretty disappointed in my Birchbox this month, it was all product, with only one eye shadow. And the eye shadow is in a package that is not exactly travel friendly. Yes, I do my makeup in the car on the way to work, but I only do it at lights, and never when I’m driving 🙂

The Glam Bag on the other hand, was great. I am currently wearing the eye shadow (which I applied with the brush they included) and the mascara, and they are both make my eyes pop! I normally wear a gold tone eye shadow, but this pink makes my eyes look all fancy. And the mascara came at the perfect time because I was using the mascara from another month and it was way passed used up.

In Summary

I loved my Glam Bag this month, and was honestly not thrilled about the Birchbox. I think I may cut back on my Birchbox subscription, if I don’t love the next one. We’ll see.

These both look great, and I can see what you mean about the BirchBox (I think that I would be a bit disappointed too). It’s nice to try different products every month, and to deviate from what you normally use on a day-to-day basis. Thanks so much for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
